House Democratic Leader Mark Smith of Marshalltown has appointed Representative Bruce Bearinger to several key posts for the upcoming 2015 legislative session. Bearinger will serve on the Appropriations, Agriculture and Economic Growth Committees.
“As a former teacher and now economic development leader in Oelwein, Bruce knows the value of bringing growth and business into the redevelopment of rural Iowa,” said Iowa House Leader Smith.
“I am excited to get back to work and start my second session representing the people of Fayette and Buchannan counties. My goals are to listen to the people of my district and strengthen our community by boosting small businesses, improving educational to ensure students get a world class education, and growing Iowa’s middle class,” said Bearinger.
Bearinger was elected to his second term in the Iowa House in November. Bearinger is a 22 year resident of Oelwein, who taught agriculture and biology and was the FFA advisor at Oelwein and Jesup High Schools. He is currently the Economic Development Director the Oelwein Chamber and Area Development.
The 86th General Assembly will convene its first day of session on January 12, 2014.
